Silkscreen

Experimentation with silkscreen medium to create painterly transparent washes.
Again used many (over 20) layers of transparent washes to build up the flesh color from a black background. The final layer is a photo emulsion silkscreen to create the mesh pattern.
Anatomy

Soap-Shaws
Through working with copper plate etching I was drawn to the strong lines in early printed woodcuts and in scrimshaw. These works used Johnson's Baby Soap bars and oil based inks rubbed into the carved groves and 'washed' out. This also highlights the function of the soap and ink, if used the soap mixed with the ink would make one's hands dirty and in turn ruin the image.
Reliquary
The slender vial on the right contains a blade from grass planted in a museum coinciding with an installation piece by Tino Seghal. This and subsequent reliquary series plays with the idea of the modern Museum's similarity to the role of churches during the middle ages and renaissance. The relic is validated by it's association with the sacred space and even more rare as Seghal's work encompasses experiences in an attempt to eliminate physical ephemera.
An Installation
Eggestential Dilemma
This very early work was a celebration of materials. The transparent sheets attached to the wall create an image of an eye from the mere accumulation of digital coding of 0's and 1's.
At the same time CBS had recently began etching advertisement of their fall line up on eggs which led to an installation spectacle of molding gelatinous eggs with sculpted fetuses staged in an egg salad picnic gone very very wrong.
